Delete your account
This removes your Isti’dad account, your vault and everything recorded in it.
What gets deleted
- Your account and sign-in details
- Your vault and every entry in it — debts, bequests, obligations, guardianship, funeral wishes, contacts, documents, final messages and personal wishes
- Files you uploaded
- Your trustee invitations, answered or not
- Your phone number and contact preferences
- Your notifications and registered devices
Feedback you sent us stays, because it was never linked to you in the first place — there is no author column to delete.
What happens to vaults you are a trustee of
You are stood down from them immediately, not after the grace period, and their owners are told so they can appoint somebody in your place. If you later cancel your deletion you are not put back — by then they may have chosen somebody else, so they would need to invite you again.
The grace period
Nothing is destroyed straight away. Your vault disappears from the app at once, but for 30 days you can sign in and cancel, and everything comes back exactly as it was.
After 30 days it is permanently destroyed. We cannot recover it after that, and neither can your trustees. If there is anything here you want to keep, export it as a PDF first — Settings → Your records, in the app.
If your vault is mid-release
If one of your trustees has reported your passing and confirmations are under way, you cannot delete the account until that is resolved with them — cancel the report in the app first.
Delete it
Sign in first, so we know whose account to delete.
Sign inYou can also do this from inside the app: Settings → Delete my account. If you cannot sign in at all, write to whatnextlegacyapp@gmail.com from the address on the account and we will do it for you.
